The K800 Keyboard from Logitech is an all-around exceptional full-size keyboard. The backlight illuminates the keyboard in dark spaces. With well-lit keys and a comfortable typing experience, this keyboard is suited to almost any environment, whether light or dark.

Design features
The keyboard is not meant to be compact or portable. It has a full-featured, larger footprint on your desk. It includes a separate number pad and measures 18 inches long and 8 inches wide, with a thickness of less than an inch at its thickest point. The K800 will not look as minimalist on your desktop, but it still has a pleasant profile that prioritizes practicality over space-saving.
Work efficiency is improved with the keypad, alphanumeric keys and 12 function keys. The function keys have dual functionality and can also be used to quickly adjust music or video playback, screen brightness or battery settings, search and email. The bottom extends slightly less than 2 inches to allow for a tapered rise to the keys when resting your palms on the lower surface while typing.
The height is adjustable using extendable foot risers underneath. Both the flat position and the extensions provide a solid typing platform. Engaging the risers increases the keyboard angle for those who prefer a steeper typing position. I find the flat position less stressful on the wrists and more natural for typing.
The construction is hard plastic with a matte finish. The black color is highlighted around the edges with a clear outer trim, giving the keyboard a futuristic look—especially when the keys are illuminated in a dark room.
The power switch at the top right activates the backlighting. Both the area beneath the keys and the etched key markings are illuminated. Use the F5 and F6 function keys while pressing the FN key to lower or increase the intensity. Brightness increases through four steps.
A proximity sensor detects when your hands approach the keyboard and switches on the lighting before you begin typing. The backlight turns off within a few seconds after you move your hands away, then immediately illuminates again when you return.
Connectivity
This keyboard requires its USB dongle to be attached to the computer. Once the 2.4 GHz receiver is inserted into a USB port, the keyboard is quickly recognized and begins working. Setup could hardly be easier.
Typing and performance
The keys feel excellent for typing. They are quiet and have a 3.2 mm keystroke, giving them a softer feel. The key surfaces are smooth and rounded, with clearly visible markings when backlit. Logitech markets the key system as “PerfectStroke,” designed to distribute typing force evenly across the key surface for a fluid typing experience.
Battery
The wireless keyboard must be recharged roughly every 7–10 days. Charging requires connecting a micro-USB cable to the keyboard and takes approximately 3–6 hours for a full charge. The battery indicator beside the power switch displays three bars when fully charged. The keyboard can still be used while connected to the charging cable.
You can expect the battery to last approximately 36 months depending on usage. A drawback is that the internal battery will eventually lose capacity, at which point replacing it—or the keyboard—may be necessary to restore fully wireless operation.
Summary
The highlight of this keyboard is its exceptional backlighting combined with the proximity sensor. The typing experience is comfortable and efficient, while the palm rest supports a more natural wrist and hand position. Wireless performance is responsive, without noticeable lag or connectivity issues. If you are looking for a quiet keyboard that remains easy to use in a dark environment, the Logitech K800 is a strong performer.
